Not Your Typical Driveway

I believe that Marcel LaPerriere of Southeast Cedar Homes in Sitka, Alaska has won the coveted VAST Creative Design Award! Okay, so this award doesn’t exist, but his compass-inspired driveway would certainly be a strong contender.

Check out these other pics courtesy of his blog.

That driveway install looks great! IT looks like it could use a little effloresence cleaner on some of the pavers. Great install!

Thanks for the kind words about my driveway. Now that I have worked with the VAST Pavers I’m even more impressed with the design of this unique product. They are very easy to cut and even a complex inlaid design is very easy to do. I’d hate to think how much work a design like the one we did would have been in standard pavers. Anyway, my employees and I are very much looking forward to our next project with VAST Pavers, because there are so much fun to be creative with.

I shoould have also mentioend that the photos in this post were taken between rain showers and the middle of the pavers are dry while the outer edges are still wet.

This is really cool! I wasn’t too sure how easily non-square patterns could be done but if they can do this it must not be too tough.

(I am not sure how well effloresence cleaner would work on a product that has no effloresence.)

I’ve worked with VAST Pavers, and have seen how easy they are to customize for odd-shape installations, but I would have never thought of taking advantage of this quality to do inlay work. Kudos to these guys!

This is my favorite of all of the VAST endeavors.
    It’s really beautiful and useful.
